Visa formalities with the UK can be simplified

H.E. Ambassador of the Russian Federation in London Yury Fedotov declared that visa regime between Russia and the United Kingdom should be simplified, reported Interfax. Such measures can be stipulated by the high indicators of the tourist exchange between our countries in 2009.

According to Yury Fedotov, more than 200 thousand Russians visited the United Kingdom last year. At the same time 240 thousand British citizens visited Russia. Such indicators put the question of simplification of visa formalities on the agenda. Meanwhile, Russian tour operators, as usual, don’t jump to conclusions concerning this question.

There are a lot of talks about the simplification of visa regime with European Union. Prime-Minister Vladimir Putin said that the majority of the European partners support this idea, despite the fact that due to political reasons they try to move to the background this question. At the same time the Prime-Minister reminded that the simplification of visa regime had been already arranged for the students, postgraduates, journalists and some other categories of applicants.

For the moment the idea of visa abolition policy with Russia officially supports Greece, Italy, Germany, Finland and Spain.
