The air tickets will rise in price

The Ministry of Transport initiated forming of the insurance fund at the expense of the air carriers. The funds will be used for paying the damages of the clients of bankrupt air companies. According to the new bill, the passengers of failed company will have the opportunity to travel by another air carrier or receive the compensation. The companies which refuse to contribute the defined sum to the fund won’t be able to carry out any transportation.
According to the officials, the main purpose of such initiative is protection of the rights and legal interests of the passengers. It would seem that the idea was rather good. The bankruptcies of air carriers are often happen unexpectedly and as a result, the passengers lose time and money. According to the effective legislation, the compensation is realized now at the expense of the government. 5 billion rubles of the budget of the country were spent for the transportation of the passengers of problem air companies in 2009.
In case the initiative will be approved, the government won’t give any budget money and all the expenses will be shifted to the air carriers. According to the analysts, such burden will cause extra charges for the passengers and the rise in price for air tickets.
