Aeroflot asked to compensate 40 million rubles for to the losses due to air collapse caused by volcanic eruption in Iceland

Aeroflot asked the Ministry of Transport to compensate 40 million rubles of losses caused by the restrictions for air service due to the volcanic eruption in Ireland, announced Vladimir Tasun, Director of the Department of State Policy in Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Transport during press conference in Interfax.  

According to his words, the matter is the losses of the company for providing accommodation and meals for stranded passengers and also for the expenses for their transportation. Only such expenses can be compensated, noted by Vladimir Tasun.

Transaero also sent the calculations to the Ministry of Transport. Vladimir Tasun didn’t voice the losses of this company. Meanwhile, Transaero refused to receive the compensation.

It’s important to note, that the Ministry of Transport received the instructions of Vice-Premier of the Russian Federation Sergey Ivanov to calculate the losses of 6 biggest air companies.
